West of Kilarney the road wanders out to Kilorglin. The area is filled with beautiful homes but once in a while you come across a home that looks to be empty just waiting for someone to come to its rescue. Usually someone knows who lived there and why the house is empty. Then again we have been astounded by the question "What cottage are you referring to?” Once we were told "Nobody wants that house fixed up. We would rather watch it rot!" Interesting. Cottage Near Killarney

This old abandoned cottage is west of Killarney
We stopped here years ago, for scones and tea

It is very near the crossing of two lanes
And boards now cover the windowpanes

I’d like to fix it up again for just you and me
But no one knows who owns it, or who has the key
