Derryclare Lough is not far from Recess on the road to Clifden in Connemara, Co. Galway Ireland. This is an unusual setting of a small island in the lake with wonderful trees and is well worth stopping to admire the scenery. Located in a valley between the Twelve Bens to the west and the Maumturk Mountains to the east it is popular place for photographers. We stopped and this painting is of that moment. The poem is from a post card sent to friends who stayed home. Map of the area near Derryclare Lough Music: Maio |
Post Card From IrelandWe are here again, in this land of beautyJust the two of us, Patricia and me A land covered now and then by passing clouds The magnificent colors muted as if by shrouds We painted scenes around Black Sod Bay Under clouds both black and gray At the pier we bought a lobster and a fish Home to the cottage where we cooked a marvelous dish We will be home soon again And we hope to see you then Wish you were here Sharing the beer |
