art Flowered and Thorned recalls the many gates that enclose the fields and pastures of Ireland. The unique, brightly painted and often quaint artifacts that were used as gates proved a delightful fascination.

Music: Dreams of Alwyn

Flowered and Thorned

Flowered and thorned, old walls enclose
Fields, attended with pride
Often adorned, by an old rambling rose
Closed-off, by a gate loosely tied
Walls and gates, designed to keep
Horses and cows, and possibly sheep
Each wall surely has a history
The origins of many, are now a mystery
