art Mass Rock was inspired by a trip to Ireland in 1993. I viewed the old markings of a suffering people on a mass rock in County Carlow. This is not far from where my Great Grandmother Margaret McDonald was born in Muine Bheag (Bagenalstown), June 1, 1844

Music: The Frost Is All Over

Mass Rock

They gathered around the ancient rock
A small, gaunt and soup-less flock
In twos and threes, they stood in knee-deep grass
Only in this secretive way, could they hear their beloved mass
They came together quickly and silent
They stood with heads quietly bent
They were as they are today
Catholics with the right to meet and pray
