Notre Dame With Darkening Clouds was inspired by our leisurely painting of the famous Paris landmark Notre Dame. While sitting on the banks of the Seine the clouds descended from the north drenching everything in site. We were fortunate to find such a perfect place to idle away its down-pour (October 1996). Notre Dame With Darkening CloudsAs the afternoon wore on we emptied our luncheon sack We still sat near the Tabarin's Pont Neuf at Notre Dame's buttressed back When suddenly the clouds turned violently black We fled for the awnings of the Rue St. Germain Where with espressos in hand we barely escaped the rain We laughed, talked and examined our work with more than disdain |
