The origins and histories are known for many but others have suffered not only the physical reduction to rubble but also the further indignity of having been forgotten or reduced to legend. Norman KeepAcross the river stood a castle expanded from an old Norman KeepUnlike others, as a B&B it offered food and a place to sleep The original structure was greatly enlarged over time An evening in the great room by the fireplace was sublime How many travelers have found refuge for the night How many have camped in the meadows to attack at first light The small history of these places is never very clear If only the stones could talk and I could hear |
