A Café in Evora was inspired during a trip to Portugal in 1993 where I viewed the old markets and people in their natural settings. The poem is original and is meant to accompany the painting by the same name. The painting and poem depict a personal experience while lunching in Evora, Portugal. Music: Abril em Portugal |
A Café in Evora PortugalOld men from Evora sat around a café tableTalking about when they were young and able We saw the young blond-woman arrive And suddenly the conversations came alive Questions of what and how she was doing What or whom she was pursuing She had in tow a very young boy Which to all was a source of apparent joy They encouraged him then and there to take a pee Which we watched while drinking our tea |
